Makeovers

                                Bedroom Furniture Makeover
I've had this bedroom furniture for over twenty years. It was natural pine at first, then I painted it white. I thought about giving it a fresh coat of white paint, but decided to go for a color this time! I haven't painted our bedroom walls yet because I'm still trying to decide what color! I sat and contemplated whether I wanted to paint the furniture a dark gray or green! Since I have green cornices and a green pillow I thought hmmm... OK green it is!

The hardware is about to get another makeover too!

Oh I have my work cut out for me! There goes my weekend! Oh well it's for a good cause!

Let's get started!

Oh so many greens! I finally picked Valspar's Olive garden 315-4. I was a little nervous in case I chose the wrong color, but I really love it! I lightly sanded the furniture with an electric sander just to smooth out any rough areas.

All you need to get started is a small roller, tray for paint, paint and a good paintbrush! You also want to make sure you have a drop cloth to protect your carpet or flooring! Make sure to open a window for ventilation!

Hardware

I used cardboard to stick the hardware in to make them easier to paint! They took a couple of coats, but they turned out great! This is a great way to cover all of them all at once! I used Rust-oleum's Metallic oil rubbed bronze paint and primer in one for around $7. Amazing coverage!

Two coats later..

I'm in love and I don't want to leave my bedroom now! Who knew a tin of paint could change a room completely! For   around $45 I get to sleep in a beautiful room. I'm so glad I never got rid of these pieces because I saved a bunch of money and I love how they turned out!

I must admit I was a bit nervous that the hardware would have been too dark, but once I put them all back on I really liked it! I love that the product I used has primer in it!

I think I deserve a good nights sleep after all my hard work! Thanks for stopping by. Night folks! : )

Easy Artwork

I bought these frames for my dining room soooooo long ago! I could never find the perfect artwork for them and really didn't know what I wanted. It's the greatest feeling when you actually find something when you are not looking! I was in the arts and craft store looking for Fall decor when I came across a piece of art which I thought would have been perfect for another frame. I got home and it didn't fit the frame I intended it for so I thought! A-HA!...Brain flash!...

The poster was 36 x 24 and my frames are 11 x 14. It was close, but it worked out great with 1 inch to spare! I really loved the picture by itself, but I solved the problem of finding the perfect artwork for my dining room and it looks great! Not bad for $18!

I measured and divided the poster into three pieces and thankfully it worked out great! No mistakes! Phew!

 Simple, inexpensive artwork!

    2. Thank you, thank you! I have wanted to paint my old maple dresser and chest for years!! Either time or indecision came to play - they're not painted, yet. You've inspried me. Finally a color that I love, the will go with all the bedding I have, a color I've never used in the bedroom! It's perfect. Now the time. Moved into this house 6 months ago so the projects are all over the map. I think I'm good to go with this in a month. Fingers crossed.

  3. I stopped over from Power of Paint. I just painted a tall dresser a similar green and did the hardware in oil rubbed bronze too! I love the dark hardware with the green. I really admire what you did to your dressers, but when I got to the photo of the full room--holy cow! Your bedroom is unbelievable--I absolutely love it! Everything is perfect together. Great job.

    1. Susan, You made me laugh! ! I never expected that! Thank you so much! I was a bit worried about the paint color at first and even the hardware, but If I was going to do it, it had to be really different and pop! I'm glad I didn't do grey! My husband made the cornices for me and the fabric for them was a window treatment which was only $6! My side tables were on clearance @ World Market as was the bed. Curtains from Ikea! I love them! I LOVE a bargain! Thanks again!
